Anito is the term used by early Filipinos to their gods and idols during the pre-Spanish time. They used this idols to asks guidance. In speaking of Anito, this not only refers to the early beliefs of the Filipinos but in Manila it is the place where lovers usually met. It is one of the popular motels in Manila that forbidden relationships are a common-place.
In the early 1970's the father of Wyden King built the first Anito motel in Pasay City, the business grew to fourteen motels with one in every highly populated city in Metro Manila by 1994.
Wyden King is the Chairman of the Board/President of Armadillo Holdings, Inc. He is into business of office leasing, development, wet and dry markets, laundry and hotels. He graduated High School from La Salle Greenhills and college at Ateneo de Manila University. He and his wife Aida have three children, Guineevere, Celine Marie and Gerovy Vincent.
Although his life had the trapping of success, but did not know peace. His spirit was restless and his lonelines did have not a name. He search for peace through his own effort. He explored New Age books, Yoga, Zen Buddhism. He has a personal yoga instructor. Besides all those things unknown to his wife and children he has a mistress who keeps on pressuring him to leave his family.
Changes really happens to Mr. King sometimes in 1986 he was introduced to a certain Nanay Cora Santos who served as his adviser. Her advice however, had a recurrent theme: "SUrrender your life to GOD." Unknown to him the Holy Spirit's work had already begun to him. Finally in 1992 he accepted Christ into his life and began a gradual surrender. The first thing was he had been delivered from the bondage of lust. He started to know his wife and started all over again. He always left room for quality time in the midst of his various business and social commitments.
In his business ventures the Lord have works also. The Lord gave him a burden of Kingdom building in his office. He brought the Church into the office. The Word of God, prayer, and worship became integral parts of their corporate life. The Lord placed a conviction in his heart to stop building and expanding the motel business. They explores another business ventures, they invested in low-cost housing, public markets, hotels and other new ventures gradually phasing out the motel operations. They converted one of their motels into Legend Airport Manor; two were converted into Kabayan Hotels, and converting the Anito-Cuneta into "Status-Married Couple's Place". In its place, they conceivedof an establishment where married couples could go where they could spend sometime to renew and strengthen their commitment to one another. Couples have to present proof of marriage only during the first time they come.
Today Wyden King continues his pursuit of building another kind of building. They have now churches in all the their establishment and business. His family, the company officers, managers and taff members take active part in dawn watches, morning devotions, cell meetings, equipping seminars and worship celebration. Truly Wyden King's life God proved once again that He triumph over anito.
