Danica Anna Bonnevie Sotto was born on May 09, 1983 into a family of well-known movie stars in the Philippine Cinema. Her father Vic Sotto is one of the famous triumvirate Tito, Vic, and Joey,  which include also his uncle Tito Sotto. She is a brother to Oyo Boy Sotto. Her mother Dina Bonnevie is also famous for drama and had numerous movies with different leading man. At a young age along with his brother Oyo Boy they were sometimes casts into their father's noon-time show Eat Bulaga, the longest-running variety show in the Philippines. She has a Swiss, Italian, and French ancestry on his mother's side and Chines ancestry on his father's side. She is now married to Jean Marc Pingris a PBA player for Derby Ace Llamados, and has one childe named Jean-Michel.

Danica and Marc could not go out alone at first. Whatever it was the movies or dinnder, she brought along several of her friends. On their second date, her mom, Dina Bonnevie, known for her frankness and who was very meticulous in inspecting her daughter's suitor even chaperoned them.
