Rev. Dr. David Sobrepeña: Founder Word of Hope Christian Church



Rev. Dr. David Sobrepeña
He is the founder of one of the largest mega-church in the Philippines, The Word of Hope Christian Church. He is one of the few who have responded to the call of God, with whom God is using mightily in spreading the Good News of Salvation not only in the Philippines but also in another countries. Before serving as the Head Pastor of Word of Hope, he has pastored Christian churches in Hawaii, Seattle, Washington, and Dallas. He worked also as a Financial Consultant in Wall Street. In August 1988, in response to a vision and a call from the Lord to start a ministry in his homeland, he started with just three  people. Under his leadership, the church has experienced tremendous growth. Today Word of Hope holds the distinction as one of the largest born-again Christian churches in the country. It has over . 3,000 cell groups, and 11 satellites (sites). He serves as the National Director of EQUIP Phnilippines, an organization founded by Dr. John C. Maxwell, providing leadership training worldwide to Church as well as lay leadership, and has trained more than 300,000 Christian leaders in the Philippines. He is also a member of the leadership team of the 2nd Billion Network, whose vision is to win 1 billion people to Christ and to plant 5 million churches worldwide. He has served in the national leadership of the Philippine General Council of the Assemblies of God for many years as Assistant General Superintendent, and as General Superintendent for a total of 15 years. Likewise, he is Co-Chairman of Transformation Philippines, a non-stock, non-profit, non-sectarian organization composed of businessmen, justices, professionals, military officers and educators whose advocacy is the propagation of moral values formation among our people, promotion of democratic principles, and above all, righteous governance. “Righteousness exalts a nation” (Prov. 14:34). He also served as Chairman of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC), and Asia Pacific Theological Seminary (APTS), and member of the Board of the Philippine Bible Society. Served also as Chairman of the Phillipine Council of Evangelical Churches.
In 1994, he founded Hope Christian Academy (HCA), a Christian institution accredited with the Department of Education that provides kindergarten, elementary and high school education. Plans are made for the opening of a Christian Evangelical University in the future.
To expand the Lord’s ministry of compassion, he and his wife Lydia founded Hope General Hospital in 2002. It provides comprehensive medical/hospital services for pastors and their families as well as the indigents in Metro Manila.
As part of the need to enlarge the Ministry Campus, Word of Hope embarked on a new building project in 2003. Called the Education Center, it provides classroom spaces for HCA and Hope Leadership Institute (HLI). The new building houses a new auditorium which has enlarged the Church auditorium to accommodate over 6,000 people.
The ministry under Pastor Dave’s care may have come full circle. But he is not about to retire from “God’s business” of Kingdom building. In whatever direction the Lord leads him in one thing is certain. He will follow. God knows his readiness to do the works at land, and is pleased by his obedience.

Pastor Ed Lapiz: Redeeming The Land Through Nationalism


Pastor Ed Lapiz founded the Day by Day Christian Ministries with churches in the Philippines and in other parts of the world, He began his pioneering underground mission in the Middle East in 1985 which gave birth to Day by Day Church Network. His educations is also impressive. He holds a degree in Philippine Arts from University of the Philippines. He has also a degree on Philippine Arts from UP.
Pastor Ed Lapiz founded and heads Day By Day Fellowship. With more than thirty books, a creative director, producer and broadcaster. Ed Lapiz promotes Christian nationalism, through indigenization of Christian Church Liturgy, the redemption of the arts for use in Christian worship and ministries, and the decolonization of Christianity, which is the declaration and practice of  independence from religious powers structure.
Pastor Ed believes that the foundation of prosperous Christian Church in Philippine setting is the unwavering belief that we Filipinos can. The battle to win the hearts and minds of his countrymen is far from over. But Pastor Ed intends to use his patriotic indignation, his love for the Philippines and his unwavering faith in the Lord and to one day being understood, internalized, and expressed even through the promotion of the country’s cultural heritage.

Efren Peñaflorida Jr. : 2009 CNN Hero's Life Verse



Efren Geronimo Peñaflorida Jr. was awarded the 2009 CNN Hero of the Year was born on March 5, 1981 and received the award on November 22, 2009 with a bounty of $100,000 in cash. He was born the middle child of Efren Peñaflorida Sr. a tricycle driver and Lucila Geronimo, a housewife. He grew up in a slum area in Cavite. He is one of World Vision's sponsored children during his early childhood. In 1997, at 16 he started a youth group in high school aimed at diverting students attention away from street gangs, and towards community activism and personal development, they named the group The Dynamic Teen Company. DTC pioneered the idea of "pushcart classroom"  wherein pushcarts were stocked with school materials such as books, pens, tables, and chairs, and then used on saturdays to recreate school settings in unconventional locations such as the cemetery or trash dump. Efren shares, “Our goal (in DTC is) to make a small yet significant difference in our campus, in our families, and in our community.”
Eften received nationwide popularity after he was awarded as the the winner, although well known personality he still continues to humbles himself and despite some trials that he have encountered he keep on holding on the his life verse.

 Efren holds on to 1 Timothy 4:12 as his personal life verse.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”

The money he received will divide into two 90% to the DTC and 10% to the Church he is attending to. As a Christian  he continues to shines whatever achievements he has right now. During the Every Nation 2010 he was invited also as one of the speakers of the event attended by different Christian Churches in the world and hosted by Victory Christian Fellowship.

Peter Tan-Chi: Christ Commission Fellowship Founder








Pastor Peter Tan-Chi was the man behind the success of Christ Commission Fellowship. He began an evangelistic home Bible study in Brookside Subd., Cainta, Rizal. Only three couples attended the first Bible Study in the home of Ike and Del Punsalang.


As they began to invite friends and families the Bible Study grew and afterwards they moved to San Juan, to the garage of Mr. Loreto Carbonel.


A core group of 40 people – businessmen, professionals, and their families – emerged from these Bible studies. In 1984, they met at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) for their first Christ’s Commission Fellowship Sunday worship service.


Since then, CCF’s continuous growth has caused its worship services to move from place to place. From AIM, services moved to Greenbelt, then to the Conference Room of the Philippine International Convention Center.


Pastor Peter was also a member of the Board of Far Eastern Broadcasting Corporation and International Graduate School of Leadership.


He is happily married to Deona whom she met in 1972 while touring in the Philippines with the Christian Singing Group The Crossroads. During  the 1970's his family owned the largest textile and sawmill industry in the country which was eventually sequestered by the Marcos regime but because of God's grace he was able to start a new successful housing business. 


One of the most painful experience happened to them. It was probably the most painful experience of his life for their house have been robed and his children were tied but the most painful of all his daughter was raped by the perpetrators. 


Pastor Tan-Chi recalled
"God helped us to survive that ordeal. This showed me that God loves and He proomised to cause all things to work together for good to those who loved Him. We surrendered our heartache, pain and our daughter

Larry Fonacier: PBA's Rookie of the Year Life Testimony




Larry Alexander Nacua Fonacier was born on May 13, 1982 in Quezon City. He shares his testimony during the Anniversary Service of Christ Commission Fellowship where he attended weekly worship service.

He, together with team mates Enrico Villanueva and Wesley Gonzales under coach Joel Banal, steered the Eagles to a Cinderella-run to the title and ended Ateneo’s 14-year title drought in the UAAP in 2002 when they won over the De La Salle University Green Archers with a score of 77-70 during Game 3 of their finals series. He was named co-finals MVP, alongside Wesley Gonzales.


Fonacier won the PBA Rookie of the Year award during the 2005-2006 season, his first year in the PBA with the Red Bull Barako. Nicknamed the "Babyface Assassin", He played 55 games with the Barakos during the 2006-2007 season with 13 starts. During that time, he was named as an All-Star, and played for the North All-Stars team in the 2007 PBA All-Star Weekend. After being traded to the San Miguel Beermen, he was then dealt to the Alaska Aces, with his team mate L.A. Tenorio in exchange for Ken Bono and Mike Cortez. During the 2010 PBA Draft, he was traded by the Aces to the Talk n' Text Tropang Texters,  in exchange for the draft rights of Elmer Espiritu.

Grace D. Chong: Palanca Awardee

 Grace D. Chong was an author of more than 30 book titles for adults and children focusing mainly on Christian Values. She aims to bridge the gap between the young and the old generation through her children’s stories. While teaching good moral values to the kids as they discover the world of the adults, the stories also bring out the child in every parent reading it.

Danica Sotto Pingris: Fame and Riches are nothing compared to JESUS




Danica Anna Bonnevie Sotto was born on May 09, 1983 into a family of well-known movie stars in the Philippine Cinema. Her father Vic Sotto is one of the famous triumvirate Tito, Vic, and Joey,  which include also his uncle Tito Sotto. She is a brother to Oyo Boy Sotto. Her mother Dina Bonnevie is also famous for drama and had numerous movies with different leading man. At a young age along with his brother Oyo Boy they were sometimes casts into their father's noon-time show Eat Bulaga, the longest-running variety show in the Philippines. She has a Swiss, Italian, and French ancestry on his mother's side and Chines ancestry on his father's side. She is now married to Jean Marc Pingris a PBA player for Derby Ace Llamados, and has one childe named Jean-Michel.

Danica and Marc could not go out alone at first. Whatever it was the movies or dinnder, she brought along several of her friends. On their second date, her mom, Dina Bonnevie, known for her frankness and who was very meticulous in inspecting her daughter's suitor even chaperoned them.

Danica shared her experience growing up in a broken home with parents from showbiz. She said that fame and riches are nothing compared to knowing the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Saviour.
