Kuh Ledesma: Filipino Pop Diva Turned Gospel Diva


Kuh Ledesma was one of the few Filipino who made a name for themselves by showcasing their singing skills. The former pop diva was considered as one of the icon in Philippine Music scene.

The 57-year-old singer was born from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental on March 16, 1955. She was a nurse by profession born with parents who has a Lebanese lineage. Her real name was Maria Socorro Ledesda 5.

Ledesma started her singing career during her early college days while studying for her nursing course at the University of San Agustin Bacolod.

The singer conquered the Philippine Music Scene having some performance at the most prestigious venues of the Philippines such as the CCP, Folk Arts Theater and the Araneta Coliseum during the early 1980's.

Some of the most popular songs that was recorded by Kuh Ledesma were revived by Filipino Artists. Her first ever hit song "Dito Ba" continued to hit the airwaves when speaking of 80's popular songs.

Kuh Ledesma came to know Jesus as her personal Lord and Saviour during her acquaintance with some of the most prominent Born-Again Christian in the music industry such as Gary Valenciano, Donita Rose, Piolo Pascual to name a few.

As her life testimony of being a Born-Again Christian, Kuh Ledesma produced her latest album which was gospel album titled "Fragrance of Worship" produced by Bravo Records, a company she founded also.

Kuh Ledesma was married to Luisito "Louie" Gonzalez, the grandson of former President Elpidio Quirino. The have a daughter named Isabella Gonzalez who was also a recording artist.
